Are you a woman in your 40s or a few years shy of that wonderful number? It’s wonderful because life gets better as you age. Worrying less, trusting your instincts, eliminating toxic elements in your life, embracing your imperfections and being ready for new challenges – that is what the 40s are about.


To enter this period in your life you will need to be fit in mind and body.

With YM(Yoga Matters) classes and courses, you will get physically stronger in a challenging yet safe way.  As you age you are more prone to injury but that doesn’t mean you shouldn't push yourself. With the right guidance from YM and our small class sizes you can surpass what you thought was possible.


​Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga classes are moving meditations that calm the mind while charging the body. The Yoga Fundamentals class is for those who want to learn the right alignments of asanas and progress to Vinyasa and Ashtanga.


At Yoga Matters we are not aiming for Instagram perfect poses – we are aiming for our own internal personal progress!


Vinyasa Flow I

ONLINE -- Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-8 am 

IN STUDIO-- Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30-7:30 pm


Small classes -- limited to 10 students

8 classes 

Focus on the present moment. Among its many benefits, this class helps improve numerous aspects of your life including reaction time and short term memory. Those who have tried this practice have described feeling more relaxed and less distracted by their fleeting thoughts, demonstrating an enhanced ability to solve problems and recall information better.

Hatha Fundamentals


Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-7pm

Small classes -- limited to 10 students

8 classes 

Hatha Yoga is a traditional system that includes the practice of asanas and pranayama which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. In this class we concentrate on the right alignments for each pose. This is class for all levels and especially beneficial for beginners.

Ashtanga for Beginners

Classes begin in June 

Ashtanga Yoga is is a highly structured vinyasa-style class. This series of 12 classes will teach you the fundamentals of the Primary Series as per the Pattabhi Jois lineage. This is a physically challenging practice that incorporates the breath, dhrishti(focal point) and bandhas(energy sealers), all leading to a meditative experience.


Private Yoga Therapy Class

No ailments and pains are minor. Specific needs can be addressed and an exclusive program can be designed for you and progress in your practice with one-on-one yoga and focused meditations. All levels can benefit from these sessions.

Yoga Therapy Classes

Our yoga therapist, Sushama Chitale has in-depth training to help assess clients and keep them safe. She works with you to address your specific goals while considering any limitations you might be experiencing. :All yoga is therapeutic and healing, however, yoga therapy is the specific application of yogic tools—postures/exercises, breathwork, meditation techniques, and more—to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. Sushama has helped numerous people overcome problems with knees, shoulders, lumbar spine, cervical pain, and more.

Mondays and Fridays 10-11 am


Nutrition Consults for yoga practitioners

The media and societal pressure have made women constantly feeling inferior about their bodies. This has created a paranoid diet culture of fad dieting and a constant barrage of news on nutrition and weight loss. Weight gain due to hormonal changes as you age is common, so it is crucial that you begin to watch your weight, especially if you are in your 40s or nearing the 40s. A size zero is not the aim but a healthy weight is needed to keep ailments such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease at bay.

Metabolism does factor in, but lifestyle is the main culprit for weight gain. We need to fuel our bodies with not only the right foods but the right quantities. Rita Date has helped numerous clients with their weight issues. She will arm you with the right tools to be the right happy size for you.
